2 oz Cognac or Dry Brandy (Foret) (Мейков)
3/4 oz Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Yellow Chartreuse
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
1 barspoon Bénédictine
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist.
3/4 oz Whiskey (Old Weller Antique Bourbon)
3/4 oz Cognac (Courvoisier VS)
3/4 oz Bénédictine
Juice 1/2 Orange (1/2 oz)
Juice 1/2 Lemon (1/2 oz)
Shake with ice and strain into a Collins glass (Highball) filled with shaved ice (ice cubes). Top with soda water (1 1/2 oz), add a straw, and stir gently. I donated a wide orange twist to the recipe.
45 ml Calvados brandy
22 ml Bénédictine D.O.M. liqueur
22 ml Yellow Chartreuse liqueur
2 dash Angostura Bitters
How to make:
STIR all ingredients with ice and fine strain into chilled glass.
Comment:
Fantastically herbal with hints of apple, mint and eucalyptus. This classic is often made with green Chartreuse — I prefer mine with half yellow and half green and dare I say shaken.
Origin:
Created before 1895 by George Kappeler at New York City’s Holland House.
1 oz Pierre Ferrand 1840 Cognac
1 oz El Buho Mezcal
1 oz Amaro Braulio
1 barspoon Benedictine
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 dash Salt Tincture (*)
Stir with ice and strain into a rocks glass. Twist an orange peel over the top.
(*) The final 3 ingredients were served in a 1/4 oz mixture that also contained a barspoon of Cognac and a dash of cigar tincture.
